Who am I?

Hi there! I'm Shelby, or Shelbina Sketchies, and I'm so excited you’ve decided to grace my humble website with your presence.

I’ve lived most of my 33 year long life in the PNW, Spokane, Washington to be precise. It isn’t a huge city by any means, but it has more to it than most people think.

Art has always been a part of my life, but it took on a whole new meaning in 2018 after the passing of my mother. It became my outlet, my solace, and my passion. Since then, I've been seriously pursuing my artistic dreams, pouring my heart and soul into every piece.

For years, I actually worked as a dog bather – talk about a sudsy adventure! It taught me a lot about patience, perseverance, and the unconditional love that comes from our furry friends (and maybe a little about wrangling wet, wiggly creatures!). Now, I'm ready to channel that same dedication into building my own art business.

In 2018, I began to really take my art seriously, drawing more often and posting the results on Facebook so I could keep track of my progress. And after about 7 years, I think I definitely have improved!

My creative inspirations are as diverse as my interests. You'll often find me immersed in the world of anime, exploring the latest geeky gadgets, or just geeking out in general! These passions fuel my imagination and often find their way into my artwork.

After creating various forms of fanart and practicing my craft in general, not to mention watching so many artists on YouTube talk about their art shop journeys, I decided to take the leap myself and build this site at shelbinasketchies.com! I learned how to craft my own stickers after much trial and error, and also how to cut them myself using my cricut machine. But, not wanting my shop to be a one trick pony, I’m dabbling into other products like keychains, tote bags, prints, and (soon to come) shirts!

I’m still learning and discovering who I am as a business owner, what products I love and want to keep around and how I wish to expand the business model. I hope you lovely people stick around on this journey with me as all of your support means the world and keeps me going!
